If you missed it last Friday, I was on the turnpike when this happened:
Long story short, something took out my driver's side quarter window. I think it was a retread that was launched by a tractor trailer passing me, but I'm not entirely sure. Anyway, the tint hid the damage well from the outside. Inside, however, was a different story:
The top corner of that window was taunting me in the rear view mirror for the rest of the trip home.
Job one was keeping the weather out, and keeping what remained of the window in one piece. I wouldn't typically use duct tape on paint, but I really wanted to keep the interior dry (it rained, a lot. The tape did it's job, and it looks like it came off without much fuss.)
I decided to keep my poor, injured car home for the week so she could be repaired. At least she has someone to keep her company... I'll be back on Friday.
In addition to the new window, this week will include getting the brake line recall dealt with, as well as an oil and filter change. There is also a new battery waiting to be installed in place of the current original one.

I miss our 2009 Forester. Looks JUST like yours. Glad it's in good shape now!
Our 2011 Forester's lease is ending in a couple of weeks :(

Whats the deal with the brake line recall? I got a recall notice for my OB concering the brake lines sometime last year. Took it to the dealership for inspection and it was all good.
Then two weeks ago I get the same exact letter concering the same brake line problem. Should I go to the dealership again to get it checked out or was this a mistake on Sunaru's end?

My buddy was crossing the bay bridge in his outback, a tie down rope with the metal hooks got lodged around his wheel when he ran it over, he couldn't stop on the bridge and had to continue.
It spiraled a circle around the shape of the tire on his body :(

I'd call and check. I don;t know if it was the same issue but it had something to do with a part rusting or maybe insufficient rust coating so that a part would rust out and therre goes the brakes. They either checked for rust or maybe if there was enough coating and i was on my way. This was a 14 WRX so I dunno if its the same thing

Imagine if you had been about six feet further back at the time. Then you'd be changing a window, a seat, AND your pants.

This new recall, WQK-47 , supersedes the old recall, 13V-110. Subaru has said that vehicles that were remedied under the previous campaign (2005-2009 Legacy and Outback) still need additional areas rust-proofed.

Wait, car body, or his body?
Either way, that sounds pretty bad.

Cars fixed under the old recall still need to be fixed under the new recall. Subaru is adding more corrosion protection wax to areas they feel they missed on the 2005-2009 Legacy and Outback. Subaru believes that it would take ~7 harsh winters for perforation of the brake lines to occur. Owners of the 2009-2013 Foreser, 2008-2011 Impreza, and 2008-2014 WRX and STi have the benefit that the 2005-2009 Legacy and Outback will have experienced this first, giving Subaru a chance to perfect the fix for everyone else. Hopefully everyone else will only need one fix, not two.
In your case, since your WRX is still very new, your brake lines would not have seen much corrosion, so only the wax needed to be applied.

makes sense. they didn;t have the car very long. I think it said I was ok so i dont know if they even added the wax.

Our (now my) 2009 Forester has been great over the last 5 years and 53,000 miles. I know 5 other people that have (or had) this generation Forester (not including internet friends) and everyone has been very happy with them. My uncle managed to put ~100,000 miles on one identical to my 2009 in 3 years, virtually trouble free except for a failed cam sensor (and two fender benders.
I haven't driven the new Forester yet (hopefully soon), but overall, its very nice. The interior materials and fit and finish are much improved. The CVT very smooth, which is a nice change from the 4 speed automatic (at least from the passenger seat). The handling seems a bit softer from the previous Forester (again from the passenger seat) but it still feels very sure footed.

I'm sure they added the wax. By now the techs are probably so quick at it that they could add the wax in their sleep.

Yep same recall as your car. Possible rust on the brake lines but I was rust free. They coated the lines and I was on my way! I might call just be sure it's not something different.

One of my favorite things about the 2009-13 Forester was the handling. DEM SHARP TURNS AND TIGHT RADIUS

The car. It basically made a bajillion (even more than a billion) little scratches in a circular pattern as it was stuck around the axle/ wheel and just rotated around slamming into the body.
The real shame was he was on the bridge, so unable to pull over and mitigate the damage.
